Magnolia Gardens is located in Charleston, SC. The harbor is along the Ashely River, which is a tidal river along which many plantations were developed during the eighteenth century. The major crops on the plantations nearby included rice, indigo and cotton. The Magnolia Plantation and Gardens are located nearby and are a popular destination for tourists. The house and gardens are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as it is one of the holdes plantations in the South dating back to 1676. The property is now a house museum popular especially for its many gardens.
